What is BibUp for ?
Bibup allows you to easily create bibliographic references by scanning books barcodes and extracts of text. The references, including the OCRed text, can be viewed on a web page and collected using the zotero plugin for Firefox.
How to use BibUp ?
Have a look at our tutorial.
Basically, you need to have an iPhone. Launch BibUp, scan the barcode (or enter it manually), add a small note (or keywords), take a picture of the part of the text you want to keep and send ! Voilà, the reference is accessible at http://www.unifr.ch/go/bibup.

Where do I get BibUp ?
Go to the Apple Store and look for "BibUp".
How do I get the OCRed text ?
Go to http://www.unifr.ch/go/bibup, click on the zotero icon on the address bar. From the list displayed in the popup window, select the reference for which you want the OCRed text and import it onto Zotero. The OCRed will appear as a note linked to the reference (except if you are not from the University of Fribourg).
Do I need Wifi ?
No, but without it you'll have to wait up to 5 minutes to send the reference.

Why is there no OCRed text ?
If you are not using the University of Fribourg wifi, you need to activate VPN (UniFR Virtual Private Network).

How to sort the stored references ?
Click on the date or title heading.
I cannot send the reference
The "send reference" button only appears when all the marked fields are completed.

Why did my reference disappear from the stored references list ?
The references are only kept for seven days.
Why is the references list not containing only my references ?
The references of all BibUp users are stored at the same space.
